Nib may have been busy causing TBR problems, but apparently the developers have also been busy. 😂

This update is a BIG one, especially for our authors.

The Writing Studio has grown up, the Book Designer is getting dangerously pretty, covers can now be spun around in 3D, reviews got considerably more useful, and Nib officially has opinions about what you should read next.

✍️ WRITING STUDIO + BOOK DESIGNER

🗺️ Visual Planning & Character Arcs

Planning a book inside FAA just became a whole lot more visual.

We've added:

• Interactive Relationship Story Maps with movable characters, saved node positions, chapter-linked turning points and relationship secrets.
• Chapter Board View for seeing your manuscript at a glance.
• Plot-line Lanes for following different story threads throughout your book.
• Outline View with scene filtering.
• Story Bible Export so all that beautifully organised chaos can actually leave FAA with you.
• Character Arc Tracking for goals, turning points, setbacks and resolutions.

Basically, if you've ever created seventeen separate documents to keep track of your plot...

...please stop. 😭

📖 Meet the Dedicated Book Designer

The formatting side of the Writing Studio now has its own proper Book Designer.

You can work through your actual book using a thumbnail page rail and customise things like:

• Chapter openers
• Styled blockquotes
• Interior formatting
• Chapter artwork
• Page colours
• Scene-break artwork

And yes...

🌙 DARK PAGES ARE A THING NOW

You can set book-wide page colours, including dark paper with pale text.

So if your book deserves dramatic black pages?

We support your choices. 🖤

You can also create two-page chapter opening spreads, with:

• Artwork on the left-hand page
• A designed chapter opener on the right

Your paperbacks can now be just as dramatic as the stories inside them.

🎨 CUSTOM SCENE BREAKS

Authors can upload their own scene-break divider artwork into a personal image library and use it throughout their manuscript.

Because sometimes ** *** simply isn't enough.

📚 BETTER CHAPTER NAVIGATION

The chapter list has also had a makeover.

You can now:

• 🔎 Search chapters live
• ⭐ Favourite important chapters
• ✅ Mark chapters complete
• ⬅️ Jump to the previous chapter
• ➡️ Jump to the next chapter

Less scrolling through Chapter 47 wondering where on earth Chapter 18 went.

🧹 A CLEANER WRITING WORKSPACE

The Writing Studio workspace has been cleaned up so there's more room for the thing you're actually supposed to be doing...

We've added:

• A slimmer top bar
• A collapsible tool rail
• Remembered panel states
• Keyboard shortcuts
• A new Cmd/Ctrl + K Command Menu

Hit Cmd/Ctrl + K and quickly jump to tools and actions without digging through menus.

✅ PUBLISHING PREFLIGHT CHECKLIST

Before you export your book, FAA can now perform a Publishing Preflight Check.

It checks things such as:

• Front matter
• Back matter
• Book structure
• Unresolved notes
• Formatting issues

Think of it as FAA standing at the door asking:

"Are you REALLY ready to upload this to the printer?"

🕰️ MANUSCRIPT SNAPSHOTS

This one is for everyone who has ever rewritten something and then immediately thought:

"Wait. The old version was better."

You can now create named Manuscript Snapshots.

Snapshots include:

• Saved manuscript versions
• Side-by-side paragraph differences
• One-click rollback

So yes, you can experiment without having to create:

We also squashed an imported-chapter bug where an empty ProseMirror node could occasionally cause the editor to appear completely blank.

🖨️ PRINT-READY PDF EXPORTS

PDF export now includes printer-ready presets with:

• Standard trim sizes
• Printer margins
• Embedded fonts
• Print-focused formatting

Making it much easier to move from manuscript → designed paperback.

# 🎨 FULL-WRAP COVER STUDIO

The Cover Studio has also had a fairly ridiculous upgrade.

📏 AUTOMATIC SPINE CALCULATION

FAA can now calculate your spine width using:

• Trim size
• Paper stock
• Manuscript length / page count

No more staring at printer calculators wondering why your spine moved by 0.018 inches.

🖱️ MOVE EVERYTHING

Front, back and spine elements can now be positioned directly on your cover.

Move and adjust things such as:

• Blurb
• Series information
• Publisher information
• Barcode
• Other cover text

With sizing and line-spacing controls built in.

🧲 MAGNETIC GUIDELINES

Cover elements can snap neatly to:

• Centres
• Thirds
• Quarters
• Safe margins

Because "eh, that looks roughly centred" is perhaps not the ideal printing strategy.

📚 3D BOOK MOCKUP

Your cover can now be previewed as an interactive closed 3D book.

You can:

• Rotate it 360°
• Drag it with your mouse
• Zoom in
• Zoom out
• Reset the view

So yes.

You may absolutely spin your imaginary book around repeatedly instead of working.

I know you will.

💾 COVER DRAFTS

There's also now a Save Draft button.

Your layout choices and uploaded artwork can be saved so switching tabs doesn't make your carefully positioned cover disappear into the abyss.

And we've added two very useful cover checks:

🔍 Thumbnail Check See how your cover works at tiny online-store size.

⚫ Greyscale Check Strip the colour away and test whether the design still has strong value and contrast.

There's also a built-in Genre Cover Design Guide covering 9 foundational cover rules and 12 genre-specific breakdowns. 📖✨

🐇✨ NIB HAS OFFICIALLY MOVED IN

Our resident Plot Bunny now has a proper home inside Fiction Addicts.

Nib now appears on the homepage as a transparent sticker-style character, complete with their own bio and a little explanation of how they terrorise... I mean, assist both Readers and Authors.

But Nib's first actual job?

Naturally, it's making your TBR worse.

🎲 TBR ROULETTE — "THE BUNNY HAS SPOKEN"

Readers now have an interactive TBR Roulette directly on their dashboard.

Can't decide what to read?

Let Nib decide.

Filter your TBR by moods including:

• 📖 Under 300 pages
• 🌶️ Something spicy
• 🐉 Fantasy
• ⏰ ARC due soon
• 😬 Neglected TBR
• 🎲 Completely random

Then let the bunny choose your fate.

Not happy with Nib's decision?

You can reroll.

Nib will then switch to their arms-crossed unimpressed pose, because apparently even fictional rabbits are capable of judging you.

⭐ REVIEWS JUST GOT MUCH MORE USEFUL

Readers can still leave a simple overall star rating if that's all they want to do.

But for the readers who have opinions...

Oh, we've got you.

⭐ OPTIONAL DETAILED RATINGS

Reviews can now include individual 1–5 ⭐ ratings for:

• Characters
• Romance
• Plot
• Worldbuilding
• Pacing

Plus:

• Spice Level from 1–5 🌶️

Detailed ratings are available across:

• Library books
• Reading Journals
• ARC completion

They're completely optional, so casual reviewers don't need to fill out seventeen boxes just to say:

"Five stars. He had wings."

💭 WHAT DIDN'T LAND?

We're also putting more emphasis on constructive reviewing.

If a review is rated below five stars, the reviewer will now need to complete the "What Didn't Land" section.

The goal isn't to force negativity.

It's to encourage useful feedback instead of:

⭐⭐ "Didn't like it."

Tell readers and authors why something didn't work for you.

Was it pacing? Character decisions? Romance development? Worldbuilding? Something else?

Useful reviews help everybody.

📊 YOUR RATING PERSONALITY

Once you've logged 3+ reviews, FAA starts learning your rating tendencies.

A new tendencies card can appear on your dashboard and public Reader Space.

For example:

"Serena tends to rate Characters 4.8 ⭐..."

...followed by a slightly questionable FAA verdict about your reading habits. 😂

Over time, you'll be able to see what you consistently love, what you're harsher on, and what apparently makes you forgive absolutely everything else.

or

👎 Unhelpful

votes from other readers.

The most valuable community feedback can earn a:

🏆 MOST HELPFUL REVIEW

ribbon.

We've also added much better review browsing.

• 👤 Character Rating
• ❤️ Romance Rating
• 📖 Plot Rating

• ⏱️ Pacing Rating
