These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Fiction Addicts Anonymous, available at fiction-addicts.com ("Fiction Addicts", "FAA", "we", "our" or "us").

By creating an account, purchasing a membership, accessing the platform, participating in an ARC or beta reading opportunity, selling or purchasing through the marketplace, or otherwise using

Fiction Addicts Anonymous is an online platform created for readers and authors.

Features may include, depending on account type and membership level:

• Reader libraries, shelves and reading tracking
• Reviews, ratings and reading journals
• ARC and beta reading opportunities
• Reader profiles and community features
• Author profiles and book directory listings
• Author dashboards and project management
• ARC and beta campaign management
• Direct book sales
• The Writing Studio
• Manuscript formatting and export tools
• Cover creation tools
• Author newsletters
• Analytics
• Other publishing, reading, community and author tools introduced from time to time

Not every feature is available to every membership level.

Features marked Alpha, Beta, Experimental, Preview, Coming Soon or similar may be incomplete, changed, temporarily unavailable or withdrawn during development.

Unless a feature is expressly stated as currently included in your purchased plan at the time of purchase, a planned or "coming soon" feature is not a promise that the feature will be available by a particular date.

Fiction Addicts Anonymous does not allow the public posting of AI-generated book covers or Content if we are aware of it, or if the author cannot provide Stock Images or separate Canva markers (or similar software) for their works. You may still use other private features of the platform, but AI-generated media will be blocked from public view. You can update or change your content and resubmit to the admin and moderators at any time.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

You agree to provide accurate information and keep your account information reasonably current.

You are responsible for:

• Protecting your password and login credentials
• Activity performed through your account
• Maintaining access to your registered email address
• Ensuring information you publish is accurate
• Ensuring content you upload belongs to you or that you have permission to use it

Accounts may not be sold, transferred or shared between unrelated users without our approval.

We may restrict, suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, misuse the platform, infringe another person's rights, abuse members or staff, engage in fraudulent activity, or create a security risk.

Reader access is available without a paid membership.

Reader functionality may include libraries, TBR lists, reading tracking, reviews, ARC and beta reading, Reader Spaces, badges, points, challenges and other reader features.

Certain promotional, experimental or future features may have separate eligibility requirements.

Reader access does not guarantee:

• Availability of a particular book
• Acceptance into a particular ARC or beta round
• Continued availability of an ARC
• A particular number of reading opportunities
• Prizes or rewards
• Access to books outside the availability period chosen by the author

Paid author membership levels currently include:

• Scribe
• Alchemist
• Magnum Opus

Membership inclusions, usage allowances, and pricing are displayed on the pricing and checkout pages.

The features and limits displayed at checkout at the time of your purchase form part of your membership.

Because Fiction Addicts Anonymous is actively developed, membership features may be improved, replaced, reorganized, or expanded over time.

We will not intentionally remove the essential substance of a paid membership during an already-paid subscription period without reasonable notice.

Usage limits may apply to features including:

• Pen names
• Directory listings
• ARC rounds
• Beta rounds
• Claims
• Newsletter subscribers
• Newsletter sends
• Storage
• Publishing tools
• Other platform resources

Unused allowances do not ordinarily roll over unless expressly stated.

Some recurring memberships may include a free or discounted introductory trial.

The duration and conditions of the trial will be displayed at signup.

Unless cancelled before the trial ends, the membership may automatically convert to the paid membership selected during signup.

It is the member's responsibility to cancel before the trial expiry if they do not wish to continue.

Lifetime memberships do not include or require a recurring subscription trial unless expressly stated.

Creating multiple accounts or using false details to repeatedly obtain introductory trials is prohibited.

Monthly and yearly memberships are recurring subscriptions.

By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorise our payment provider to charge the applicable membership fee at the billing interval shown at checkout until you cancel.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the next billing date.

Cancellation prevents future renewals. It does not ordinarily reverse a payment that has already been processed.

When you cancel, you generally retain access to the paid membership until the end of the period already purchased.

No partial or pro-rata refund is provided simply because you:

• Cancel partway through a billing period
• Stop using the platform
• No longer require the membership
• Change your mind
• Decide another service better suits you
• Fail to use included features

This does not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

A Lifetime membership is a separate one-off purchase from a monthly or yearly subscription.

"Lifetime" refers to access to the applicable membership for the commercial lifetime of Fiction Addicts Anonymous and that membership offering, rather than the biological lifetime of the purchaser.

A Lifetime membership:

• Does not renew
• Does not create an entitlement to every feature FAA may ever develop
• Includes the features assigned to that Lifetime membership from time to time
• Is attached to the purchasing account unless we approve a transfer
• Is generally non-refundable except where required by law

Existing subscriptions and Lifetime purchases

Purchasing a Lifetime membership does not retroactively convert, credit or refund previous subscription payments.

For example:

If you pay for three months of Magnum Opus and later decide to purchase Magnum Opus Lifetime, the three previous monthly payments remain payments for the access you received during those months.

They are not instalments toward the Lifetime price.

They are not deducted from the Lifetime price.

They are not refunded merely because you later purchased Lifetime access.

A recurring subscription and a Lifetime purchase are separate transactions.

Where technically possible, future recurring billing for the equivalent membership should cease once Lifetime access has been activated. Members should nevertheless check their billing status after purchasing Lifetime and contact us promptly if an equivalent recurring subscription remains active.

Upgrades may take effect immediately.

Where our billing system provides a prorated adjustment, credit or charge, this will be displayed during checkout.

A member is not otherwise entitled to have historical membership fees applied against a later membership purchase.

For example, purchasing Scribe for several months does not create an accumulated credit toward Alchemist, Magnum Opus or a Lifetime membership.

Promotional upgrade offers may operate differently where expressly stated.

You may cancel a recurring membership at any time through the available account or billing controls.

Cancellation stops future renewals.

Unless otherwise stated, access continues until the end of the period already paid.

Cancelling a membership does not automatically delete your FAA account or reader information.

Certain author features may become unavailable, read-only or restricted after paid access ends.

Directory retention rules depend on the membership you held and are displayed on the current pricing page.

10.1 General rule

Fiction Addicts Anonymous does not provide change-of-mind refunds for memberships.

Membership access is made available immediately after purchase.

Subject to rights that cannot legally be excluded, membership fees already charged are not refundable merely because you:

• Changed your mind
• Decided you no longer want the membership
• Do not use the membership
• Did not use all available features
• Forgot to cancel before a renewal
• Purchased the wrong membership
• Later purchased a Lifetime membership
• Found another service you prefer
• Did not read the terms and conditions and it goes against your public publishing needs
• Expected functionality that FAA did not advertise or promise
• Dislike the interface or workflow
• Decide the platform is not suitable for your individual publishing or reading process
• Cannot use a third-party service required for an optional integration
• Expected a particular result, number of sales, readers, ARC claims, reviews or subscribers

Cancellation and refund are not the same thing.

You may cancel an eligible recurring subscription to prevent future billing without being entitled to a refund of a payment already made.

10.2 Subscription followed by Lifetime purchase

Subscriptions and Lifetime memberships are separate purchases.

If you purchase a subscription and subsequently purchase Lifetime access, previous subscription payments are not refunded, credited or deducted from the Lifetime purchase price, unless a specific promotion expressly says otherwise.

The subscription payments paid for access during the period in which the subscription was active.

The Lifetime payment purchases future Lifetime access.

10.3 Lifetime memberships

Lifetime membership purchases are final and non-refundable for change of mind.

This includes circumstances where, after purchase, you:

• Decide FAA is not suitable for you
• Decide you will not use the membership
• Prefer another platform
• No longer write or publish
• Do not require particular included features
• Disagree with future optional interface changes
• Misunderstood functionality that was accurately described before purchase

Lifetime status does not create an unconditional right to a refund because you later decide the service does not meet your personal preferences.

10.4 Misunderstanding a feature versus a service failure

There is an important difference between:

A feature not doing something you assumed it would do and A feature materially failing to perform functionality that FAA expressly represented it could perform.

For example, if FAA describes a tool as exporting a manuscript to ePub, an expectation that the same tool will also automatically distribute the book to every major retailer would not create a refund entitlement unless that functionality was expressly advertised.

However, if a paid feature is expressly represented as providing a particular core function and that function materially cannot be supplied or cannot be rectified within a reasonable period, you may have rights under applicable consumer law.

We may ask you to provide information reasonably required to diagnose the issue before determining the appropriate remedy.

10.5 Technical problems

The existence of a bug does not automatically mean the entire membership is defective.

Software platforms occasionally experience bugs, downtime, browser-specific behaviour and temporary feature interruptions.

Where an issue is reasonably capable of being fixed, we may first attempt to:

• Troubleshoot the problem
• Correct the bug
• Restore access
• Re-perform the affected service
• Provide another appropriate remedy

A minor or temporary technical issue does not automatically entitle a member to a full refund.

Nothing in this section limits remedies required by applicable consumer law.

Membership prices are displayed before purchase.

Unless otherwise stated, FAA membership pricing is currently displayed in USD.

Your bank or payment provider may charge:

• Currency conversion charges
• International transaction fees
• Other processing charges

These charges are imposed by your financial institution and are not retained by FAA.

Applicable taxes may be added or included where required.

We may change membership pricing for future purchases and future renewal periods.

Price changes do not ordinarily create a retrospective refund entitlement.

Where required, reasonable notice will be provided before an increased recurring price is charged.

Payments are processed using third-party payment providers such as Stripe.

FAA does not store complete card information.

You authorise the payment provider to process charges associated with your purchase.

Payment providers may independently decline payments, impose verification requirements or restrict accounts.

FAA cannot guarantee that a particular card, bank or payment provider will accept a transaction.

Fiction Addicts Anonymous is an actively developed platform.

Features identified as:

- Alpha - Beta - Preview - Experimental - Early Access - Coming Soon may change during development.

This may include changes to:

• Interface
• Workflows
• Feature names
• Limits
• Technical implementation
• Layout
• Availability

A Beta designation does not remove consumer rights that cannot be excluded.

However, a user should reasonably expect a Beta feature to evolve and should not purchase a membership on the assumption that an experimental feature will remain permanently identical.

Magnum Opus and other eligible plans may provide access to the Writing Studio and related publishing tools.

These tools may include manuscript writing, formatting, cover tools, export, project organisation and other publishing functionality.

You remain responsible for reviewing exported files before publication.

FAA does not guarantee that an exported file will be accepted by every retailer, printer or distributor indefinitely because external platform requirements may change.

Where we provide presets for services such as KDP or IngramSpark, those presets are intended to assist users but do not create a guarantee that a third-party platform will approve a file.

You should retain independent backup copies of important manuscripts and publishing assets.

You retain ownership of original content you upload to FAA.

This may include:

• Manuscripts
• Book covers
• Book descriptions
• Reviews
• Notes
• Images
• Profile content
• Newsletter content
• Other original material

By uploading content, you grant FAA a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, display and technically reproduce it as necessary to operate the platform and provide the feature you selected.

You confirm that you own the content or have sufficient permission to use it.

You must not upload material that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, privacy or other legal rights.

Reviews must reflect the user's genuine opinion.

Reviews and community content must not contain unlawful harassment, threats, discrimination, spam, impersonation or intentionally misleading information.

We may moderate content where reasonably necessary to operate or protect the community.

Removal of content that breaches these Terms does not entitle the account holder to a membership refund.

Points, badges, achievements, leaderboards, giveaways and community rewards are promotional or gamification features unless expressly described otherwise.

We may reasonably modify:

• Point calculations
• Eligibility rules
• Challenges
• Badge requirements
• Leaderboard systems
• Promotional rewards

We may remove fraudulent or manipulated activity.

Unless expressly stated, points have no cash value.

Where authors sell books directly through Fiction Addicts Anonymous, additional Marketplace Terms apply.

The author is generally the seller of their own book and responsible for matters including fulfilment, product accuracy and legally required refunds.

FAA supplies the marketplace technology but does not take ownership of books sold by independent authors.

Where these Terms conflict with the Marketplace Terms in relation to an author-to-reader marketplace transaction, the Marketplace Terms apply.

FAA may connect with third-party platforms or services.

Examples may include:

• Stripe
• Email providers
• Goodreads
• Amazon or Kindle-related services
• Google services
• Social platforms
• Other publishing or reading services

Third-party integrations depend on those providers continuing to make their systems available.

FAA does not control changes made by third-party providers.

The removal or restriction of an optional third-party integration does not necessarily constitute a failure of the entire FAA membership.

Nothing in this section excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where authors are permitted to collect or contact newsletter subscribers through FAA, the author is responsible for using those contacts lawfully.

Authors must:

• Contact only users they are entitled to contact
• Honour unsubscribe requests
• Avoid spam
• Comply with applicable marketing and privacy laws

Authors may not sell or unlawfully share subscriber information.

FAA provides tools.

We do not guarantee a particular:

• Number of readers
• Number of followers
• Number of subscribers
• Number of ARC claims
• Number of beta readers
• Number of reviews
• Book ranking
• Revenue
• Sales volume
• Publishing outcome
• Audience size
• Conversion rate

The success of a book, profile, listing, campaign or author account depends on factors outside FAA's control.

Dissatisfaction with commercial results does not, by itself, mean the platform has failed to provide the purchased membership.

We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of:

• Serious or repeated Terms violations
• Fraud
• Illegal activity
• Harassment
• Copyright infringement
• Payment fraud
• Platform abuse
• Security risks
• Attempts to interfere with the platform
• Misuse of confidential manuscripts

Termination for a serious breach caused by the user does not automatically create a right to a refund.

This does not affect mandatory consumer rights.

We aim to keep FAA available and functional but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.

Temporary interruptions may occur because of:

• Maintenance
• Updates
• Bugs
• Hosting outages
• Third-party outages
• Security incidents
• Events outside our reasonable control

Users should retain copies of important original files.

We will take reasonable steps to correct significant problems affecting core paid functionality.

Authors retain copyright in manuscripts uploaded for ARC or beta reading.

Readers receive limited access solely for the purpose authorised by the author.

Unless expressly permitted, readers must not:

• Redistribute manuscripts
• Upload them elsewhere
• Sell them
• Share access
• Copy substantial portions
• Circumvent security controls
• Use manuscripts for AI or machine-learning training
• Publish unreleased content without permission

Readers participating in ARC or beta programs are expected to provide genuine, independent feedback.

Authors may not require positive reviews in exchange for an ARC.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FAA is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the platform, including loss resulting from third-party systems, lost opportunities, loss of anticipated revenue or actions of another FAA user.

Where liability cannot legally be excluded, any limitation in these Terms applies only to the extent legally permitted.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights where doing so would be unlawful.

We may develop, modify, replace or discontinue platform functionality.

Where a change materially affects a core feature of an active paid membership, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice.

Not every interface, cosmetic, experimental or workflow change constitutes a material change to the service.

We may update these Terms as Fiction Addicts Anonymous develops.

Material changes will be communicated through the platform, email or another reasonable method.

The updated Terms will show a new "Last updated" date.

Where a change materially affects an existing paid contractual commitment, it will apply subject to applicable consumer law.
